Italian Historic Venues Day
To mark this year’s National Day of Italy’s Historic Venues, Bologna’s most prestigious 5-star luxury hotel, the Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni,” invites locals and curious visitors alike to discover its historic and prestigious 18th-century building and its hidden treasures.
Did you know that the remains of a Roman road are preserved inside? Or that an ancient tower is hidden among its roofs? Did you know that even the “I Carracci” Restaurant and the meeting rooms are adorned with the famous frescoes in which Agostino, Annibale, and Ludovico Carracci depicted the myth of Europa, Zeus’s quest to seduce her, and more—a “museum-worthy marvel” that ranks among the finest examples of 16th-century painting?
Its suites have hosted kings and queens, princes and princesses, Hollywood actors, Nobel laureates, and musicians who have made history. The Café Marinetti takes its name from Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, the founder and tireless promoter of the early 20th-century avant-garde movement, which was launched on the night of March 20–21, 1914, with the “Mythical Futurist Exhibition.”
In short… a place waiting to be discovered. A visit not to be missed.
This year, the guided tour will be led by Max Martelli, an art historian and professor, who will guide participants on a journey of discovery through this unique venue. His expertise and artistic sensibility will help visitors gain a deeper appreciation of the historical and artistic details of the Grand Hotel Majestic "già Baglioni".
